> Real-time Payment Systems – EU/APAC: key developments shared

> Next level infra choices: status quo in Japan vs rest of the world (case)

> Moving beyond payments: it is all about data!

Modern real-time, connected digital services require a flexible, accessible, instant payment backbone. Europe is now rolling out “Instant payments” allowing anyone to be paid within seconds around the clock every day and moment of the year. UK has also opened up its backbone so that licensed third parties – not only banks – can access the backend payment infrastructure directly. We also see an increasing focus on Cloud and APIs.

Japan has had a real-time payments system for decades – and has led the world on this. However, it is time for this to be modernized and opened to competition. A modern payment backbone must allow 365*24*7 instant payments, API access to accounts, cloud-based services, have a neutral, open and inclusive governance. The Japanese FSA has thus proposed to change the payment service act to reflect this and the new JFTC report addresses the issues surrounding the competitive policy regarding financial services and fintech.

Japan, and more nations, are actively discussing next generation blue-prints. Globally, stakeholders can learn from best-practices and new ideas, as infrastructures need to connect and align more and more as the global transaction space is becoming more transparent, real-time and accessible.

Key topics for discussion during this Webinar are amongst others:
• The importance of infrastructure
• Global developments
• Cloud, API, Instant, neutral access, fraud
• Position of Japan vs rest of world
